โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)

1

Excavate the Perimeter and Piston Trench

Clear a flat 9x11 area of grass using your shovel. Dig a 3-block-deep, 2x4 trench centered directly in front of where your front entryway will sit. Place two sticky pistons facing upward at the bottom of the trench with oak planks resting on their sticky faces.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข A level 9x11 cleared dirt foundation.
  • โ€ข Two upward-facing sticky pistons flush with the subfloor trench.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Placing regular pistons instead of sticky pistons, preventing retraction.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Fence the excavation trench immediately to prevent creeping mobs from falling in while you work.
2

Wire the Retractable Entrance Gate

Run a line of redstone dust beneath the pistons leading to a redstone torch inverter beneath the doorframe. Run redstone wiring through the foundation to a concealed wall lever inside and an external pressure plate placed two blocks out. When powered, the pistons must extend upward, raising wooden log blocks to seal the 2-block-high entryway.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Stepping on the plate or flipping the lever retracts the wooden logs into the floor.
  • โ€ข The gate defaults to the closed, raised position when unpowered.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Failing to invert the redstone signal with a torch, leaving the door permanently open.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Never place wooden pressure plates on the exterior, as hostile mobs can step on them and open the gate.
3

Erect Wall Frames with Spider-Proof Overhangs

Raise stripped oak log corner pillars 4 blocks high around the 9x11 foundation. Fill the wall sections with oak planks, inserting glass panes at eye level for visibility. Fasten upside-down oak stairs along the exterior top lip of the walls to create a 1-block lip that spiders cannot climb over.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Four-block-tall log corners with framed plank walls.
  • โ€ข A continuous protruding stair lip wrapping the entire exterior top edge.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaving gaps in the stair overhang where spiders can exploit corners.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Work from temporary dirt scaffolds rather than precarious wall edges to avoid fall damage.
4

Build the Non-Spawnable Slab Roof

Cover the entire ceiling using bottom-half oak slabs placed on the lower half of the fourth block level. Avoid using full solid blocks or top-half slabs on the roof surface. This mechanical property prevents any mob, including Phantoms and Skeletons, from spawning on top of the house regardless of light level.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข A smooth slab roof with no upper-half steps or full-block surfaces.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Accidentally placing top-half slabs, which allow mob spawning.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure no adjacent trees overhang within 3 blocks of the roof edge to prevent mobs dropping from canopies.
5

Install Perimeter Lighting and Panic Lockdown

Hang lanterns from the exterior eaves spaced every 4 blocks to flood the surrounding yard with light level 8 or higher. Inside the main living space, install a master lever connected to the entrance gate circuit via a redstone OR-gate. Activating this master lever permanently powers the door pistons in the up position, locking out exterior inputs during blood moons or raids.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Well-lit perimeter with zero shadows below light level 1 within 8 blocks.
  • โ€ข Exterior pressure plate is overridden and deactivated when the panic lever is flipped.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Crossing the master redstone line with standard home lighting wires, causing circuit locking.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Always keep a water bucket in your hotbar to quickly neutralize Creeper fuses outside the perimeter.
