Open Socket Retention Mechanism
Place the motherboard flat on an anti-static surface or its original cardboard box. Push the metal retention arm down slightly and out sideways to clear the retaining hook. Lift the lever fully back until the load plate swings open or the pin clamp releases completely.

Identify Alignment Triangle and Notches
Pick up the CPU strictly by its textured substrate edges using your thumb and index finger. Locate the golden triangle printed on one corner of the CPU substrate. Match this triangle with the printed or stamped triangle mark on the motherboard socket frame.

- โข Golden corner marker on CPU directly over the matching socket index marker

Seat CPU into Socket (Zero-Insertion Force)
Hold the CPU parallel to the socket base and lower it straight down without angling. Let gravity drop the processor into place; it should nest completely flat inside the socket lip with zero downward pressure applied. Verify there is zero horizontal wobble by very lightly nudging the edges.

Close Load Plate and Lock Lever
Lower the metal load plate over the top of the processor so the cutouts catch under the central socket screw. Lower the retention arm down and firmly push it down toward the board until you can hook it back under the metal retention tab. Moderate mechanical resistance is completely normal during this step.

Final Alignment Inspection
Inspect the socket area closely from multiple angles under bright light. Confirm that the CPU integrated heat spreader (IHS) is centered, level, and that any pop-off protective socket cap has detached cleanly. Clean the top metal surface with a microfiber cloth and a drop of isopropyl alcohol if finger oils touched it.
