📋 Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Power Down and Disconnect All Peripherals
Shut down the operating system fully and flip the power supply switch at the back to the OFF position. Unplug the main power cable, followed by monitor, USB, and audio cables. Press and hold the case power button for 5 seconds while unplugged to drain residual capacitor charge.
- • All cables are completely detached from rear and front I/O ports.
- • The PC tower is isolated on a flat, well-lit, non-carpeted work surface.
- • Leaving USB or power cables attached while moving the chassis.
- • Forgetting to drain residual power from the motherboard capacitors.
Remove Side Panels and Dust Filters
Unscrew the thumbscrews securing the tempered glass or solid side panels and set the panels flat on a soft surface. Detach all removable magnetic or slide-in dust filters from the top, front, and bottom of the chassis.

Blow Out Radiators and Internal Heatsinks
Aim the compressed air nozzle directly into CPU heatsink fins and liquid cooling radiators from 4 to 6 inches away. Use short, controlled bursts of air moving from inside to outside to blow trapped dust clear of the chassis. Use a soft brush to dislodge stubborn clumps caught between radiator fins.

- • No dense grey mats of dust visible between cooling channels.
- • Holding canned air upside down, releasing freezing liquid propellent onto metal fins.

Clean Fan Blades and Chassis Fans

Wipe individual fan blade edges using a cotton swab lightly dampened with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to remove stuck-on grime. Repeat for front intake, rear exhaust, and graphics card fans.

Collect remaining dust from the bottom floor of the chassis with a microfiber cloth.

- • Dragging microfiber cloth forcefully over sharp motherboard pins and solder points.
- • Using household paper towels that leave lint particles behind.
Reinstall Dust Filters and Panels
Reattach clean, fully dry dust filters onto their respective intake slots at top, front, and bottom. Align side panels into their chassis guide rails and secure them finger-tight using thumbscrews. Reconnect power and video cables to the rear I/O, ensuring the monitor cable connects to the GPU rather than the motherboard port.
