๐งฐ Required Tools & Equipment
- โ Diamond or Netherite Pickaxe
- โ Shovel
- โ Axe
- โ Building Blocks (Deepslate, Wood Planks, Glass)
๐ฆ Materials & Supplies
- โ Powered Rails
- โ Normal Rails
- โ Redstone Dust
- โ Redstone Torches
- โ Minecarts
- โ Oak or Spruce Planks
- โ Polished Deepslate Bricks
- โ Stone Buttons
โ ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings
- โข Light the entire interior to prevent hostile mob spawning (light level 1 or higher on all solid blocks).
- โข Ensure powered rails do not loop infinitely without a physical brake block to prevent runaway minecart lag.
๐ Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Clear Foundation and Lay the Chassis
Clear a flat 9x21 block area on level ground. Place two parallel lines of polished deepslate blocks along the perimeter to outline the wheel-base and floor of the train house.
- โข A clear 9x21 rectangular trench/outline filled with dark deepslate blocks
- โข Level ground surrounding the build site with no uneven terrain
- โข Making the platform an even width, which makes centering a single railway track difficult
Build Wheels and Undercarriage
Use coal blocks or black concrete placed outside the chassis footprint to form four oversized train wheels. Connect them with smooth stone slabs along the bottom edge to create the mechanical bogies.
- โข Four 2x2 or 3x3 circular wheel structures attached to the sides of the chassis base
- โข Slab undercarriage connecting the front and rear wheel sets
- โข Placing wheels too close together, making the build look like a car instead of a locomotive
Frame Walls, Windows, and Locomotive Cab
Raise stripped log pillars at the corners up to 5 blocks high. Infill walls with wood planks and glass panes, stepping the front 4 blocks up higher to create the elevated conductor cab.
- โข Enclosed 5-block tall cabin with glass viewports along the sides
- โข Elevated driver cab section at the forward end
- โข Using full glass blocks instead of panes, which reduces interior living space
Install Internal Rail Line and Departure Mechanism
Lay a central line of rails leading from inside the back storage room straight out through the front bumper. Place an unpowered powered rail against a solid stop-block with a stone button mounted on the block face to launch the cart.
- โข Central track running the length of the train interior
- โข Sloped powered rail at the rear resting against a solid block with a button
- โข Using a wooden button instead of stone, causing an unnecessarily long delay in the launch sequence
Interior Furnishing and Lighting
Fit a bed, crafting table, furnace, and chests along the side walls, keeping the central rail corridor unobstructed. Hang lanterns from the ceiling every 3 blocks to guarantee full spawn-proofing.
- โข Fully lit interior with clear central 1-wide walkway over the rails
- โข Compact functional living utilities fitted beneath wall recesses
- โข Placing chests directly on top of the rail track, preventing cart travel

Don’t have everything?
- No Deepslate Bricks? Stone Bricks or Cobblestone
- No Powered Rails? Furnace Minecart push-system or closely spaced normal rails with manual pushes
