How to Build an Easy Secret Base in Minecraft

📋 Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Select and Clear the Cliff Face
Locate a flat 4x4 section of natural stone cliff. Excavate a 2-block wide by 2-block high doorway extending 4 blocks deep into the rock wall. Clear out extra workspace 3 blocks to the left, right, and above the opening.

- • A widened cavern behind the facade giving clear access to side walls.
- • Digging into gravel or sand that collapses into the workspace.
- • Choosing a terrain wall that is not flush and reveals internal mechanisms.
Place the Sticky Piston Mechanism
Inside the excavated space, place a 2x2 block of sticky pistons facing inward toward the hallway on both the left and right sides. Place another column of two sticky pistons directly behind them facing toward the entrance to create a standard Jeb door layout. Attach stone blocks matching the cliff to the front-facing piston heads.

Wire the Top Redstone Circuit
Place a solid roof layer directly above the pistons. Run redstone dust along the outer edges connecting both piston sets. Place two redstone repeaters over the middle pistons on each side, setting both repeaters to 2 ticks of delay (one right-click each).

- • Two repeaters visible with torches spaced one notch apart showing 2-tick delay.
- • Leaving repeaters on 1 tick (default), causing the block-grab mechanism to desync.

Install Concealed Input Trigger
Run a redstone dust line from the top circuit down through the side wall to an exterior trigger location. Place a stone button or concealed lever on a natural stone block, or tuck it behind a tree or patch of tall grass beside the entrance.

Activate the input switch to test opening and closing cycles. Ensure the exterior wall is completely flat and indistinguishable from the cliff when closed. Excavate your main underground living space behind the doorway and place torches along interior paths.
